How did someone come up with the name deadpool?

I mean, did the creator just wake up on day and say to himself “I should make a character whose name is simultaneously related to death and a body of water”

Bloody puddle? sounds like a metal band

Bloodlust ocean? too much like a pornstar.

Deadpool? yeah, that sticks, lets go with that.
